Had the opportunity to photograph the 2012 Olympic Marathon Trials for Team Rogue Elite in Houston today. A wonderful chance to see TRE members Allison Macsas and Scott MacPherson charge through the three loop course. The Race Committee did a fantastic job of making the race accessible to spectators and for having a well informed and courteous volunteer staff.
Scotty Mac was running his first Marathon after qualifying with a scorching half marathon time of 1:03. He went out with a 2:12 group in attempt to qualify. His race was not one for time, he was running for a place, and late in the race he paid the marathon price.
Allison ran a personal best of 2:40 for her third marathon. She looked calm and composed throughout the three loops. She told me that this race went super for her, and that the unaccounted for elements all broke her way. We are super excited for Allison to run a PR at a big stage of the Trials.
Men’s Winner Meb Keflezighi ran a superb tactical race to take the win in Houston. Meb was one of four Americans to go under 2:10 in the Marathon. I was lucky enough to meet Meb last year at a book signing at Rogue Equipment. He has been nice enough to send me the occasional email filled with parenting tips! Love that guy.
