Lysts on the Lake – Thursday Practice

Not a measuring pass

Thursday saw the last day of practice for the jousters in the upcoming Lysts on the Lake. 23 competitors from across North America will be competing in Austin in several mounted disciplines, foremost being the joust. This is a real competition with balsa wood tips, battered shields and blood drawn even in the practice passes.

My favorite B+W image of the day

Love these overhead shots, we were lucky enough to sweet talk the crane operator into letting us get a few shots from 40 feet in the air for a slightly different perspective. See the full gallery here

Just before the tilt

Paint and a beauty dish

cool shots…sun a bit hard…and deep shadows…but I fun event to witness nevertheless.

Yeah Carlos, unfortunately we were only able to run one light and it was about 3pm in direct sun. The ones we took today are more balanced (used 2 sets of 2 lights)
