Motocross Practice – Austin, TX

Hot Wheel Flames!

It’s tougher that it looks.

We have all seen the X Games and late night ESPN coverage where guys are doing backflips and supermans like I eat breakfast tacos, often and with ease. After watching an open day at the Austin DelValle MX Track I have newfound respect for all who participate in this sport because it is not if you wreck but how often and how badly.

When the course bites back

Chris, our rider in blue and subject matter for the day, bent his tail pipe and broke his brake-mount on successive crashes. With no bike, we walked the track scouting out shot locations for our return trip.

Chris, learning how to dig the turn

On the back of the course is a jump called QuadZilla, yes I am intrigued, yes I want to take photos there. No, I don’t want to be run over….

Sketchy Landing + "He's coming right at me!"

Can you find the flailing fallen rider?

After assisting the rider, we watched a few more jumps and learned about scrubbing speed on jumps

Next time we will be incorporating more lights into the mix for a more stylistic approach.
